Nutrition Counseling Packages

Is nutrition counseling covered? (the procedure codes are 97802 and 97803)

Are there any restricted diagnoses? (ask specifically about the diagnosis code Z71.3 and if it's covered as preventive)

Is nutrition counseling covered when provided via telehealth?

How many visits are covered?

Do I have a deductible to meet before insurance pays?

Will I have a copay or coinsurance?

Is Sarah Stapelmann (NPI 1942787213) or A Stapel in Wellness (NPI 1720636103) covered under my plan? If not, what are my out-of-network nutrition benefits?

Write down the date and reference number for your call.

**We do not regularly check benefits for clients, so it is your responsibility to know what your plan covers and what your portion of the cost is.

Accepted Insurance (more to come):

  • Medicare

  • United Health Care

  • If you are covered by an insurance company other than the above, A Stapel in Wellness can provide you with a "superbill" (an invoice with the procedure codes and diagnostic codes) for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is still recommended that you call your insurance company to verify your benefits and ask if reimbursement is an option.

The following packages are available for those who don't have coverage or insurance.

One Month Package (4 weeks)

If you’re looking to jump-start your already healthy habits or are nervous about seeing a dietitian and don’t want to over-commit? This package is for you.

Includes: One 1-hour assessment and goal setting session plus one 30-minute follow-up appointment, and 15-minute bi-weekly check-ins. Unlimited email support for 4-weeks.

Three Month Package (12 weeks)

Ready to see real changes and take the first steps to build lasting healthy habits? This package is for you.

Includes: One 1-hour assessment and goal setting session plus two 30-minute follow-up appointments and 15-minute bi-weekly check-ins. Unlimited email support for 12-weeks.

Six Month Package (24 weeks)

This 6-month program is perfect if you are looking to commit to a health and wellness road trip entirely. And like any road trip, there will be healthy and expected potholes, detours and pit stops. But don’t worry; throughout your journey, I’ll be there as your compass helping guide and support you at every mile. Micro actions can lead to macro changes.

Includes: One 1-hour assessment and goal setting session plus four 30-minute follow-up appointments and 15-minute bi-weekly check-ins. Unlimited email support for 24-weeks.

Most insurance companies will cover fewer than four nutrition counseling sessions per year. If you are committed to making changes and would like to add to your insurance benefits or a purchased package, follow-up packs are a cost-effective way to stay on course.
